“The areas have been identified and holes are being dug for the tree planting in Aghdash district as part of Azerbaijani First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva’s initiative to plant 650,000 trees in the country in one day in order to mark the 650th birthday anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Imadaddin Nasimi,” Deputy Head of the Department for Analysis and Forecasting of Socio-economic Development of the Aghdash District Executive Authority Khanmusa Ahmadov has told AZERTAC.
Ahmadov noted that more than 4500 trees will be planted in the district. He said the young people of the district will also be actively involved in this tree-planting initiative in November.
Initiated by Azerbaijan`s First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, this project aims to promote the legacy of Imadaddin Nasimi all over the world. Public figures, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps, executive authorities, non-governmental organizations and young volunteers will join the initiative.
Planting 650,000 trees in the country in one day will help reduce 2,6 thousand cubic meters of CO2 emissions each year. This will make also significant contribution to the climate change mitigation and environmental protection.
President Ilham Aliyev declared 2019 as a Year of Nasimi in Azerbaijan.
