Kiev, November 27, AZERTAC

The 12th session of the GUAM Parliamentary Assembly has been held in Ukraine`s Supreme Rada.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Supreme Rada Dmitry Razumkov noted Ukraine`s interest in expanding cooperation with the GUAM member states` parliaments.

Head of the Milli Majlis delegation to GUAM, MP Azer Karimli stressed the necessity of developing the cooperation between the GUAM countries. He highlighted the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Karimli said Armenia continued to ignore the UN Security Council`s four resolutions on immediate withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. He underlined that the withdrawal of the Armenian army from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan and change of status-quo might open opportunities for settling the conflict.

The session heard speeches on various topics. Azerbaijan`s permanent representative in GUAM, ambassador to Ukraine Azer Khudiyev and MP Ali Masimli told of Azerbaijan`s activity in GUAM, including the country`s energy and transport projects.
